Lets face it, not every day you want to take pictures is going to be sunny and perfect, some of the best photographs occur during or after precipitation. Sure, you can get a plastic bag to cover your camera but that does not look professional.
The Vortex Storm Jacket Camera Cover easily can be placed anywhere it can be folded small and put in your pocket or anywhere in your camera bag. It is just as flexible as a plastic bag and it comes in a zipper pouch that can be attached to your tripod hook.
Setting it up is easy! All you have to do is put it on and pull the drawstrings.
The first time I used it was January 2008. I went to go shoot a waterfall before the snow melted off the rocks. In Wisconsin, January is known for winter, this day was a little different. Tornado warnings and thunderstorms were on the plate. Heavy rains during the day made the lake behind the waterfall melt the ice and snow that was on it.
The rain at this point had stopped, but shortly into my shoot, it started pouring. I was packing up until I came upon the storm jacket. I decided to try it out for the first time. Setting it up was easy, I could shoot with it on tripod or hand-held. I had view of my cameras LCD screen and the lens was able to focus and zoom with no issues.
Using the dial is a little tricky, but by simply sliding it up a little, you have access to the top of the camera.
In May of 07, I could have used this as I was caught in a hailstorm and thunderstorms in Arches National ParkĀ the whole time I had to hover over my camera and constantly dry it.
It is better, not to have to worry about drying your camera and just take pictures.
The storm jacket I s an affordable and useful accessory to any photo bag. I highly recommend this product.
